In 2019, Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda relaunched Ekisaakaate kya Nnabagereka UK, which had first been introduced in 2015. That year’s programmes took place in South London and Manchester, with plans to hold the event annually. However, like many aspects of life, the initiative was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

With uncertainties surrounding a return to normality, the organising committee decided to hold a two-day virtual Ekisaakaate in 2022 instead.

The programme took place on 3rd and 4th June, bringing together participants (Abasaakaate) and volunteers (Abagunjuzi) who gave talks and led discussions on various topics.

Key Sessions
The event featured a range of sessions, including:

- Kiganda Cuisine (Okutegeka Emmere Ehhanda) – Nnaalongo Justine Nalubwama and Mrs. Hope Nakaweesa Kabugo demonstrated the preparation of traditional Kiganda dishes, guiding participants through each step from kuwaata emmere to okutegeka oluwombo.

- Art & Craft (Eby’Emikono) – Richard Ntege shared insights on environmental conservation, music, and traditional instrument-making.

- Career Development (Okwetegekera Okukola) – Edith Namugga Kaggwa highlighted the role of home-based education in shaping personal and professional growth.

- Financial Intelligence (Eby’ensimbi) – Ssaalongo Geoffrey Kibuuka introduced financial management skills to young participants, encouraging early financial responsibility.

- Knife Crime (Ettemu ly’Obuso) – Richard Ntege addressed the impact of knife crime on Black African communities in the UK, stressing the importance of communication and strong family relationships.

- Mental Health & Covid-19 (Engeri Ssenyiga Lumiima Mawuggwe gyakosezaamu abantu baffe) – Baker Kiyingi and William Nkata discussed the pandemic’s effects on young people’s mental well-being, emphasizing open family dialogue.

- Personal Hygiene (Okweyonja) – Mrs. Elizabeth Ntege provided guidance on hygiene, covering hair care, oral health, skincare, and overall grooming.

Closing Remarks
In his closing remarks, Dr. Jeff Sebuyira Mukasa, Chairman of the Nnabagereka Foundation, commended the participants, parents, and organisers for their dedication to Ekisaakaate UK 2022. He also noted his pride in seeing alumni, such as Richard Ntege, play a key role in the event’s organisation.

Dr. Sebuyira Mukasa conveyed greetings from Her Royal Highness Nnabagereka Nagginda, who expressed her joy that the programme, first launched in 2015, continues to thrive. She looked forward to future camps benefiting Ugandans in the UK.
